I upgraded to jira 7.3.6, follow https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/migrating-from-jira-server-to-jira-cloud-779160826.html.
The import process was successful. I need to import my users and all related info stored in the jira server database to the cloud.
I logged a support ticket with atlassian but I am afraid I may not get a timeous response before my change window for the migration expires.
If the import was successful, you have already got "users and related info in the server database to the cloud".
I'm not sure what you are looking for here? If you've followed the doc, there's nothing more to do. What appears to have gone wrong that meant you reached for support?
refer tohttps://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/importing-issues-776636788.html. I eventually found the entities.xml and activeobjects.xml in the database backup zip file, I unzpped the db backup and created a new backup file as instrcted in the url above.
The import took a while but ended up with the error
Import error
There was an error importing file jira-data-20170528.zip: "There was an error parsing the entities.xml file: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x4) was found in the CDATA section.". Please try again or choose a different file.
I see many CDATA entries in entities.xml, the backup was created using jira backup so this is wierd. Is there a way I could rather do a mysqldump and import that in jiracloud?

So when you said "The import process was successful" in your original question, that was totally wrong.
That error is quite common when using certain databases and trying to move to others, and there's a standard fix for most cases. Have a look at https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/removing-invalid-characters-from-xml-backups-12079.html
A MySQL dump would be useless to Cloud even if you had got any access to it (you don't), Cloud runs on PostGreSQL. You need to do this with the xml, as documented.
