How do I go about federating my Jira instance?

Deleted user June 3, 2013

I've done quite a bit of searching online to find a guide that details how to federate jira instances, but I keep finding myself being linked back to this document: Federating Jira. Unfortunately, despite the fact that this document is called a guide, it provides no information on how to get started with federation. Please can someone link me to a document with steps on how to start getting into Jira Federation?

Hey Chris, the guide seems to be providing practices to be used rather than steps by steps on federating the instances.

To get started, you should build the application link to connect multiple JIRA instance together so user are able to work on some features such as linking.

As for user management, you may want to connect the JIRA instances to a centralized Active Directory or Crowd for better management over the users and membership. For further practices, you can refer to the documentation for more features which you can plan to implement.

Hey there, Christopher.

Indeed the guide (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/ATLAS/Federating+JIRA+-+Managing+Multiple+Instances) might not provide the whole information on how to kick start the process of federating your JIRA instance in detail. Furthermore, the steps explained in the guide is sophisticated and therefore, we would kindly recommend you to get in touch with our Atlassian Experts (http://www.atlassian.com/resources/experts) as they will be able to provide you with the assistance that you require on this. Hope it helps a little.

Warm regards,

Danial

Did JIRA Federation go away? Those pages linked above do not seem to be publicaly available anymore?

I do not have access to them either. Things may have changed.

They appear to have changed the space name; try replacing 'ATLAS' with "ENTERPRISE' in the URL's... eg: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/ENTERPRISE/Federating+JIRA+-+Managing+Multiple+Instances
