How do I create a Jira ticket for the incoming emails received

Bandula Edirisinghe July 19, 2012

I wanted to use JEMH to filter the Application Support email box in order to have a facility to create a Jira ticket project wise. Please refer the below diagram.

Outside email received -------> Jira JEMH mail handler -------> Filter by project ---------> automatically generate a Jira ticket for the relevant project.

Most of the mails sent by the customers are not categorized projects wise. At least it doesn't contain any Abbreviations related to the project in the subject of the mail. Currently, the only way to filter them is by going through the body and find out the project. So, JEMH should have a facility to read the body and find out related project which was pre-defined in JEMH.

Does JEMH support for the above requirement. If so, Please explain how to do it.

Hi Kiran,

Is it possible to populate custom fields in JIRA with the help of an incoming mail?

Hi Baed,

You could try to configure Issue and Comment creation from email by following the steps mentioned on this page -> https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Creating+Issues+and+Comments+from+Email

However, the catch here is that you will require separate mail accounts for each project.
