How do I change change automatic assignee

I was wondering if someone could help me so that I can configure the application so that the assignee is the person who created the issue, instead of it always being me.

It's you because you've got the project configured to default to assign to you, or the project lead (who is you), or the component lead (who is you). That itself can be changed quite easily - have a look at the prokect settings.

To assign to the reporter, you need a post-function you can add to the create transition. I don't think there's one off-the-shelf, but there's plenty in the marketplace that can do it.
