How do I add an imported workflow to a scheme?

I created a nice workflow on a local instance of JIRA.

I imported the workflow to a client's instance of JIRA and it uploaded fine.

I get the following error when I try to add it to the project's workflow scheme:

Please let me know what could be the issue.

I then also get erros when I create a whole new workflow.

I can add statuses and transitions but I cannot update or remove them.

You'll need to read the logs to see what is wrong, but I'd also check the load on your machine - it might be that JIRA is struggling

So, the performance of the system then? CPU being thrashed, JIRA using all the memory?
