How can someone tag me from an email reply?

I set up and old school IT guy with a jira name in our Company Jira account. He has accepted it and now receives emails. He can now respond directly to his tickets from the email.

My question is, how does he tag me so I know he has responded the ticket? When he puts the @Mitsu Bishi tag directly in the email, it shows jumbled in the ticket and I dont get a notification.
