How can i change the Type of CUSTOM FIELD in JIRA???

Hello..

I made a Project and Cusmtom Field in JIRA PROJECT..

However I need to change the type of custom field..

example..

I'm using custome field named 'Version' by 'text field(single line)' type.

but I wanna change theh type from 'text field(single line)' to 'select list(single choice)' type.

I do not want to delete original custom field and make new custom field as same name.

I want to update orginal custom field type.

becuase if I delete original custom field, the data would be not clear.

So, that's why I just update the type of custome field..

I tried to find that how to change it, but I couldn't find it.

So I ask you guys help how to do it.

There's no way to do this in the UI, and it's going to be hard in SQL.

Your best option really is to add a new custom field with a different name, migrate the data into it, and then delete the old field and rename the new one

The safest way to migrate the data is with bulk-edit - you won't need any code.

Ohh..it works... No problem to change the custom field type evne though i need to change some of data in db for my original data... Thx..
