How can I retrieve the parent issue id's in a JIRA filter?

I want to build a filter within JIRA to retrieve information associated with Sub-tasks in a project.

Part of this information is the identifier of the parent issue.

I know I could use the JIRA Parent Issue Summary plugin to retrieve the summary - but this doesn't seem to do the identifier.

Hi David,

I use a custom solution.

I have created a custom field, of type text field called "Parent Issue". I populate the field on sub-task Create transition by using the post-function "Copy value from other field". I copy the key from parent to "Parent Issue" Field in sub-task.
