How can I duplicate the settings and config for one OnDemand instance to another?

Jesse Penning July 14, 2016

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Configuring global settings

We have a client that wants our OnDemand setup to be ported over to their new OnDemand instance. Everything from Groups to project settings, etc. Is there a way to export all of this, or will it have to be done manually?

Hi Jesse,

This can be achieved with our Configuration Manager for JIRA add-on. Although the add-on can't be install in an OnDemand instance, this can be translated to a typical use case by exporting both the source and target JIRAs with XML backup and restoring then in temporary OnPrem instances. Then you can follow the steps from this article - https://botronsoft.atlassian.net/wiki/display/CMJ/Move+Projects to move the projects with their configuration and data. And finally you restore the target OnDemand JIRA from a new XML backup after the migration is done.

Doing such a migration is often not very straight forward even with the use of powerful tools. It mainly depends on the amount of customization and data. If you need any help with the project don't hesitate to drop us an email at support@botronsoft.com or for a more hands-on engagement check http://www.botronsoft.com/services/

Thanks!
