How can I disable the @mention feature in JIRA?

Stefan November 10, 2014

I want to disable the @mention feature in JIRA so there's no dropdown user list when someone enters an "@" sign nor should any email be sent, how can I do this? (JIRA 6.2.7)

Hi Stefan,

You will have to do 2 things:

1 - Remove the 'Browse Users' global permission. (Gear Icon >> User Management >> Global Permissions)

2 - Set 'Email Visibility of users' option to hidden. (Gear Icon >> System >> General Configuration)

After that you should be all set. smile

Please let us know how this worked out for you.

Cheers!

well I actually still want users to be able to set a given reporter of an issue or add watchers - if I remove the Browse Users this will stop working as well I believe?

Yes, it's one box of functionality. If you disable it you will lose all those other options.
