How can I base a portfolio plan on team boards without including sub-tasks?

I have a plan that includes 8 teams and their boards as well as a couple of other sources.  The plan is slow when set up this way, seemingly due to the large amount of sub-tasks and historical issues included in the teams' board filters.

I need to be able to do both of these at the same time:

1) base the plan on more restrictive queries like

project = TEAMX and IssueType != sub-task and (resolutiondate is null or resolutiondate > startOfYear())

2) associate the Portfolio teams to the correct boards so I can see sprints in my plan, plus the team velocity history.

I was able to write per-team JQL filters and at least link the teams to those, but it doesn't solve #2, making the teams useless.

I raised a sgguestion at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JPOCLOUD-1992.

Any ideas?
