Its a serious pain to have to type one's name in the custom user picker every time this needs to happen, which can be many times per ticket.
This is NOT for assignment. We have custom fields in which a user might need to add their name to a list. I'm essentially looking for an "add me" button.
The "current user" can just "assign to me" the ticket, or in the keyboard shortcut can press "i"
Gabrielle - I don't want to assign the ticket. I have user picker fields for ticket-specific roles. (Tester, implementer, etc)
