I was able to configure sprint issues validation with Jira Automation, but can't understand how to forbid to start sprint.
The use case is following: validate statuses and fields of the issues taken to the Sprint (when clicking Sprint start) and proceed with Sprint start if everything is ok, and do not start if doesn't match with some error message.
Can I confirm that you are using the "Sprint start" as the trigger of the automation? If this is the case then it means the sprint has already started before we get to the conditions.
You will need to choose a different trigger. If your sprint always starts at the same day and time each week you could use a schedule trigger. Otherwise there is also a manual trigger but you would need to go into an issue to access the manual trigger.
