I've used the old Permissions scheme trick to hide old projects from he Projects listing, but in the latest version, they are still visible.. although when you select it, it says This Project isn't available.
Any ideas how to hide them again?
It depends on how you are looking for these projects, and what your permission level is in Jira.
If you are a Jira administrator, then you have an alternative way to look at all projects, Gear/cog Icon in the top right of the script, then go to Projects. Jira Admins can see all the projects of an instance this way, even if the permission scheme does not explicitly grant them access to that project. The URL for view is:
/secure/project/ViewProjects.jspa
However all users, have the navbar menu with items such as Dashboards, Projects, Issues, etc. All users have access to the Projects link there, if you choose the "View all projects link" you will be taken to a URL such as:
/secure/BrowseProjects.jspa?selectedCategory=all&selectedProjectType=all
This view is restricting what you can see based on your permissions to those projects.
So I would like to clarify which URL you are using to view this, and then determine if perhaps the user in question might also be an admin Jira.
