Has anyone experienced problems with users labeled anonymous updating tickets based off history?

Chelsea McCall March 6, 2019

We have had issues with our tickets having dates changed. When we look at the history it either has users listed as anonymous or it has users listed that definitely did not change the dates. Has this happened to anyone else in JIRA or can anyone help me to understand why this happened?

Did you figure this out? I think we are facing the same issue.

Hi Chelsea,

Have a look at the permission scheme and check if you see Anyone listed in there.

If that's the case (and your Jira instance is not behind a firewall) it could be that your Jira instance (or certain issues in it) are exposed to the whole internet, with anonymous users being able to see issues and also perform certain actions (add label).

Have a look at the documentation article below to better understand project permissions in Jira:

That's definitely not it. Our project is permission based and users have to be granted access. Also does not explain why it would put other users in the history without them making changes. We do see this mostly happening on tickets that are being used in a BigGantt. Would that explain it or why would that cause this problem?

thanks,
