Group's access to projects

Shavarsh Gyonjyan June 29, 2014

Dear Jira team.

I have created Project1 and Project2, then account group1 and group2 in JIRA 6.3 On Demand.

Is it possible to configure permissions of the groupes in a way that group1 has access to Project1 only, and group2 has access to Project1 and Project2?

Thanks in advance for your support.

Yes. Assuming you have the default permission scheme

1. Remove the group "jira users" from all roles in both projects

2. Add group1 to the right roles in Project1

3. Add group2 to the right roles in Project1 and Project2

(Note that line 1 needs to be repeated across most of your installation - Jira has an open-by-default policy which makes your projects "if you can log in, you can use all the projects" off-the-shelf and it's worth unpicking that now if you need to protect projects in the future)
