GitHub Integration Documenation does not seem to reflect reality

Tim Speciale February 26, 2019

Can someone confirm to me the most up-to-date documentation on how to connect a GitHub Repo to Jira? Pretty much nothing on this page corresponds to anything I'm seeing in either GitHub or Jira, which leads me to believe it's vastly out of date.  Unfortunately it's the only thing I can find.

I have managed to install a "GitHub App" but the get started feature doesn't actually do anything after having me log into my github account.

I don't think I'm this dumb but maybe I am.

Hi Tim,

You're not dumb! The document linked is not longer current for connecting Jira Cloud to Github (Cloud, not Github Enterprise).

The app you've installed is the new method for connecting with Github Cloud. What's not clear from the app screen is how to set it up. The missing piece is this documentation showing how to configure the app.

In short, clicking on that blue "Get started" button in your screenshot will let you connect with your Github organization. Assuming you've already granted Jira access to the repos you want in Github, you should be good to go!

Sorry about the setup confusion but hopefully the correct document straightens everything out for you.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
Daniel
