Getting rid of In Progress Status in Workflow

Is it possible to change the workflow as :

Open -> In QA -> resolved (CLosed)

Basically i dont want the developers to click in Progress. Can i get rid of the in progress status?

I tried to creat a custom workflow which skips the in progress part and it doesnt seem to work . After open i cant do anything.

Well, it seems like you haven't configured the workflow correctly. Seems like you don't have any transitions configured after the open state.
