General Jira functionalities - use cases

Christof Sevecke October 12, 2017

Hello, we are searching for a project management tool. Is jira possible to fulfill these use cases:

Our use cases are:

  • 1) One tool: for IT-Development Tickets and Discussion-boards between internal & external people
  • 2) Separation of Sprint-Board and Discussion board: people that have access to discussion board, should not be allowed to see the Sprint-board
  • 3) Several discussion boards for several clients (one client = one discussion board)
  • 4) External people: should only be allowed to comment/read within the discussion board but not to open up development-related tickets and not to assign these tickets to internal people
  • 5) To have one backlog: of all development-related tickets and to drag and drop them into Sprints
  • 6) Closed/shipped tickets: should be stored within the system
  • 7) It must be visible: who opens and closes tickets
  • 8) Sprint-view from left to right: Means, e.g. Jan-Febr-March-….not downwards but from left to right
  • 9) Possible to store the code: within jira?
  • 10) Connection with Zendesk-Tool possible (transfer of Zendesk-Tickets into jira?)
  • 11) Integrated CSV: (Comma separated values)?
  • 12) Capacity-planning: possible?

Thanks and best,

 Christof

Hi Christof,

Most of these things are possible through the Atlassian stack (JIRA and Bitbucket). Some items you will need to clarify further (like what you mean by 'discussion boards'sprint view from left to right).

The Atlassian ecosystem offers over 3.000 apps in the Atlassian Marketplace that extend the functionality of the Atlassian Core applications. There is a really good chance that there is a solution there for your capacity planning needs e.g. but the best fit largely depends on your way of working.

You are really asking a consultancy question here. My recommendation would be to contact an Atlassian Solution Partner in your area, spend some time to explain your use cases and let them give you a proper advice on how to best fulfil your needs.

The best way to find a partner is through the Partner Directory, which you can find over here.
