Force Priority to have no default and be required?

Alistair Granger March 24, 2016

In JIRA Software on Cloud is there any way of forcing Priority to have no default value and thus be a required field?    I can see no way of making the field have no default, and therefore setting it to be Required is moot because it will always be pre-populated with the default.

As a second question - if we moved to a Server deployment are there any edits that we could make to enact this behaviour?

Thanks in advance,

Alistair

Hi Ali,

currently this is not possible to make a blank or non-selected Priority Field Value.

The best alternative would be to define a Priority level as "Blank" (or some other) and then select that as an option when you would prefer the priority level to be empty.

You can define the priorities by going to the User Administration page > JIRA tab > Issue Attributes > Priorities. On this page you may add whatever Priority you like.

Your request makes sense that others have requested this before. Feel free to comment and vote for this issue here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-13048

Cheers,

Peter T
