Filtering on labels for Jira Dashboard

Franzisca Lindner March 25, 2024

I am trying to create a dashboard where I want to be able to filter on a few different things. It is a bug dashboard and I want to be able to filter on the platform, or brand and the only way I had thought of putting this information into the ticket was through using labels. But if I create a chart and use labels as the value I obviously get a chart which includes all of the labels I have put in. Is it possible to pick out which labels I want in my chart?

For example on my screenshot I have platform (iOS, Android etc) and brands (LSM etc). I want to create a pie chart that is only filtered to iOS, Android etc and another that is filtered to the brands but I can't seem to filter on the label? Is there another option within the bug ticket where I could input this information and use that to filter?

Hello @Franzisca Lindner

That is not possible with the native Jira dashboard Pie Chart gadget. The wedges will be based on all the values in the field specified for Statistic for the issue in the scope of the gadget filter.

If you want to use the native Pie Chart to show the distribution of issues across just the Platform values, then Platform would need to be a separate Selection List type field. If you want a Pie Chart to show the distribution across Brands, then you would need a separate Selection List field for Brands also.

There may be third party apps that would provide a gadget that would let you specify the values to use for the wedges, from a multi-select field like Labels. I have not searched for one that could do that, so I don't know of one.

Hi @Franzisca Lindner,

Maybe it's better to have Platform and Brand as two separate fields in Jira, instead of setting these in Labels field. This will a allows you to filter and generate charts easier.

And if these would be single-value fields, you could try using the Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget offer by our Great Gadgets app, which allows you to create multi-dimensional tables and charts with counts, sums or percentages.

Hope this helps.
