Few clarifications related to bugs

Hello,

Few clarifications related to bugs:

  1. Currently, when we raise an issue type as ‘Bug’ and want to link it (‘relates to’/’blocked by’) to a user story, we do not get the option to link in the first screen. Its only when we have created the issue and assign it, then we get the option to link. This results in an extra step to be performed the user raising the bug.
  2. The ‘Link issue’ option is available only to the roles like ‘Project Manager’/’Project Admin’ and not to ‘Scrum member/user’. We need ‘Link issue’ to be available to everyone for raising bugs in JIRA.
  3. Currently the issue type ‘Bug’ is not coming up in swimlanes which does not give us a picture of related defects in a single Kanban view. To have the bug appear in swimlane, we have to convert it to type ‘sub-task’ instead of a bug (which we don’t want). Is it possible to have a bug appear as a task in swimlane for easier tracking?

Regards,

Nandhini

Hi @nandhini_chandrasekar

1 and 2: Make sure the "Linked Issue" field is present on the create issue screen, check the "Issue Type Screen Scheme" and "Link Issues" permission is given to other users' roles who wants to create a link, it will be done in the "Permission Scheme" used in your project.

3. Most likely the board filter is excluding the Bugs. Go to Board | Configure (You should have the rights or ask the administrator of that board)

I hope it helps.
