Exporting sub-tasks linked to stories linked to epics

Ron Smelser November 17, 2017

Is there any native way to create an export into Excel of all items linked to an epic a how they are linked.  To be specific, how can I in JIRA (or from a tool in the Atlassian Marketplace) create an export in excel to show:

sub-tasks (Key and Summary), parent story or bug (Key and Summary) , parent epic (Key and Summary)

and

parent story or bug (Key and Summary) , parent epic (Key and Summary) [for those stories/bugs) that do not have sub-tasks created

The goal is to create a database that would include time tracking data for sub-tasks, stories, bugs for metrics tracking.  We need to associate a specific sub-task to a specific story that belongs to an epic.

Hi Ron,

You can easily export the data you mention with native fields. "parent" will give you a subtask parent where "Epic link" will give the epic. Those values will be issue keys only. You can easily VLOOKUP those information in Excel to get the summary and more details if required!

If you have deeper reporting needs, I'd advise you to look at solutions such as EazyBI which can manage "Issue structure" very easily! You can report on issue fields in a structured view based on parent/epic relationship!

Hope this helps!
