We have created a mammoth board that is filled with Epics. Beneath those Epics, we have Tasks and Sub-tasks, all of which that have time estimates assigned to them. However, we're unable to see a 'total' time estimate per Epic showing us the time assigned to the Tasks and Sub-tasks and we currently have to manually go through all Tasks and Sub-tasks to be able to add these up.
Is there something we're missing? Or will this require yet another plugin to be able to display information that should already be there?
Thank you for reaching out.
We agree with you that the ability to view the sum of Story points/Time estimate from all the issues related to a common Epic would be a useful feature to have in JIRA. Although we currently don't have this functionality at this moment, we have a feature request to get it implemented:
Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.
For now, there's a free app that helps you achieve a workaround for this lack: Epic Sum Up - Light. Additionally, the paid version of the app provides you with gadgets and board view information.
Another workaround would be to export your issues to a CSV file and use a spreadsheet software (Excel, LibreOffice, etc) to sum the estimations related to each Epic child issues.
Please, let me know if you have any questions.
