Error while importing backup data on new server

Aaron Fletcher August 7, 2012

I have just moved our version of JIRA over to a new server and am now trying to load the backup file from the old server. But when I do so I keep getting an error. Both the old server and the new server are running identical versions of Jira and Greenhopper.

Exporting Jira details

Jira 5.1.1

Greenhopper 5.10.6

Importing Jira details

Jira 5.1.1

Greenhopper 5.10.6

The only difference is that the new server is running 12.04 version of Ubuntu rather then 11.04 which the old server was running. I have attached a screenshot of the error that keep coming up. Currently this means that we are not able to do any of our work in Jira until I am able to restore the backup.

hi Aaron,

It seems that you've accidentally selected the "Project Import" option in JIRA and not the .xml restore option. Please see this link for how to restore the .xml backup:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Restoring+Data

Please let us know if you get stuck with any of this.

Cheers,
