Epic name field keeps reappearing

Hi

I use JIRA 5.2.11 and in one project, The Epic Name field keeps appearing back on the screen again and again even after i remove it from the screens. I also tried to add a different context for the field and tested. Still the field keeps appearing.

I understand that this is Greenhopper default field and used for Epic issue types in agile board. However i need to stop this field appearing on the screens for this project. Please let me know how to do this. Any suggestion would help me much.

It is a mandatory field for epics. Are you trying to remove it from Epics or some other issuetype. If it is the latter, try https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/GHKB/Epic+Name+field+is+required+on+Create+Issue+Screen+for+other+Issue+Types

Thank u for your reply. I am trying to remove the field for Epic Issue type only. This is because we have the Summary field and do not want the Epic name field. Can u please tel me how to remove this field for Epic Issue type?
