Normally when an issue is update on JIRA our users receive an email notifying them of the change. However over the past few days we have noticed that the emails are not coming through each time an issue is updated but instead we are receiving them in batch at random times throughout the day.
Is there a known cause for this, and if so how would we go about reverting back to the old way?
Your JIRA instance might just need to be restarted. JIRA will natively queue up email messages and send them out periodically. If the queue keeps getting backed up, then this is often resolved by just restarting the JIRA service. It is default behavior to queue up emails though instead of sending them out right away.
