Editing an issue key

Anthony Pomtree June 11, 2013

Is it possible to edit an issue's key after it has been created? I see where you can specify an issue key upon import, but no ability to update it once it is in JIRA.

No, you cannot edit it. You can change it via DB, but I really would advise against it.

You can change it by moving the issue to another project via the  "More"

You can change the project key doing what's explained here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Changing+the+Project+Key

As @Radu said making changes via DB it's not recommended.

That's why @Radu wrote that answer. I was just giving another possibility.

I would not want to change the project key, only an issue key.
