Due Date visible by default

Is there a way to show "Due Date" under "Dates" in issues screen, with the value unset? I'd like to be able to click the calendar button on the sidebar to create a due date instead of having to edit the issue.

  1. Define a new scripted field which returns either the actual value of the due date or a string "Not Set"
  2. Remove the actual Due date field from the view screen

But the scripted field is not editable.

You can manually move the field position by following the steps in this doc:

In JIRA 5.1 and after you can edit the due date inline when you are in the view issue screen. Please refer to:
