Does Jira require domain admin priviliges for the AD service account?

I have JIRA connected to Microsoft Active Directory using a service account.  Does that require domain administrator privileges or is a normal domain user sufficient?

Our Confluence is setup the same way. So the question is for both JIRA and Confluence.

Normal account is sufficient as long as you are planning to make user/group modifications in JIRA. You need read access to see the user/group/memberships and that is all you need.
