The Atlassian Community can help you and your team get more value out of Atlassian products and practices.
Our company is moving away from using ACAccess to authenticate personnel within JIRA. In order to have a seemless authentication process, we would like for JIRA to be able to use Active Directory groups in order to authenticate users as opposed to individual authentication.
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
No, it can not use groups for authentication, like all tracking systems, it needs to know who a user is so it can work out what permissions they have and record their activity.
You can of course use your AD groups in Jira, adding them to permissions, roles, notifications and so on, so that the system can say things like "because person X is in group Y, they have permission Z"
