You need to read

  • the configuration docs for the version you are on
  • the configuration you currently have
  • the new docs for the version you are going to

There may be little or no change, but you may need to upgrade the database.  You should use the instructions from the database vendor to do that.

Hi Kedar,

In regards to database configuration and upgrades there isn't much guidance in our docs other than make sure the db you want to use is upgraded to the version that is needed for the version of JIRA you would like to upgrade to:

Confirm that your operating system, database, other applicable platforms and hardware still comply with the requirements for JIRA...

You will need to review the Supported Platforms documentation for the version of JIRA you would like to upgrade to and make sure the db schema and version are correct per the Connecting JIRA applications to a database for what you want to upgrade to.

Once you have made the determination of what db to upgrade to:

  1. Stop JIRA
  2. Upgrade the database
  3. Upgrade JIRA

Other than that, the instructions to upgrade JIRA can be found at Upgrading JIRA applications.

Cheers,

Branden
