JIRA Agile is an add on on top of JIRA. So you need both.

Do you have to put your projects, tasks, issues, etc into Jira for it work in Jira Agile, or can you use JiraAgile for everything you do in Jira?

Agile is mostly a view on to Jira data. The stuff you see in Agile is 99% just a different view of the Jira data.

Agile relies on some functions that are core Jira well - specifically, you will *always* be using Jira if you do any filtering. Or creating projects. Or using Dashboards or walls, or admin functions, or or or...

You *can* work entirely in Agile if you want to, as it has functions to create and update the issues that are independent of the same functions in Jira, but all it's doing is using the data in Jira, and the lines are blurred in places.

Frankly though, forget about the separation, it really doesn't matter unless you're trying to split a Jira up or get rid of the Agile plugin - work the way that works best for you!
