Do we have to take a backup before re-indexing

Hi,

What all the actions we have to do before re indexing.

If yes, do we have to take backup of home and application directories also?

Regards,

Swetha

Hi swetha,

it's always good to have a backup of your database and directories. You should have that independently of the reindexing task.

I would do that before, if you don't have one.

Thanks for your reply.

What about Index recovery and snapshot. Is this required before re-indexing?

Normally, it's no problem reindexing your Jira.

If you choose the background re-index, your users are allowed to work with Jira in the time of indexing.

Index recovery makes regular snapshots of your index. If you encounter indexing problems, you can recover the latest snapshot of your index quickly without a full reindex. This is useful for big Jira installations.
