Disable/hide "add people" button

STX November 22, 2023

Hello,

how can I disable/hide the "add people" button in the project board view. The only person inviting people is the site admin, who can do that through the project settings.

Another question: Why does the permission helper only work with team-based projects? I cannot select issues from company-managed projects and since the helper wont work if you dont select an issue, it's basically useless to me.

Still no solution for this - but there is a backlog item you could follow:

Hi @STX

You can't hide that option as far as I know - but you can limit what options users have to invite others. You'll need to be an Org Admin to change these settings.

  • If it is allowing a user to add/invite users from Google, Slack, etc - to deactivate this...
    • Go to https://admin.atlassian.com/
    • Select Settings from the top navigation bar
    • Next, select Contacts from the left-hand menu
    • Deactivate the option listed
  • You can also customise user access settings, include invite options, here...
    • Go to https://admin.atlassian.com/
    • Select Products from the top navigation bar
    • Next, select User access settings from the left-hand menu
    • Update information accordingly

See more information on these help pages:

In relation to the Permissions Helper, it should work with Company-managed Projects - I just tested it and it worked for me. Can I confirm you're accessing it based on the instructions on this help page?

Permission Helper

The Permission Helper can help you figure out why a user can or can't see a certain issue.

  1. Choose > System.

  2. Click Admin Helper > Permission Helper.

  3. Enter the name of the user whose permissions you want to check. Leave this blank for anonymous users.

  4. Enter the issue key you want to look into. For example, the issue that the user cannot see.

  5. Select the permission that you want to check for the user.

  6. Click Submit.
