Difference between Jira Teams>Go to Operations> Alerts and Jira Service management > incidents

In Jira cloud we have the following option:

Jira>Teams>"Select the team">Go to operations>Alerts wherein we will get to see all the alerts. If we are integrating Opsgenie this is where the alerts will appear.

However, we have something called Jira Service management. Why is it that the alerts are not available here ,i.e, under incidents and is available in Jira cloud teams.

These are related in a way.

Opsgenie is an alerting tool that can sent messages to on call or standby users based on team rotations an send out triggers to escalation contacts etc..

It also just sets alerts not create issue JSM, this can be configured or manually triggered.

This could also haapen if you would use the major incident trigger on an incident, that would be able to create an alert in Opsgenie.
