Deprecate a project in JIRA

Mike Winston December 18, 2014

We have created many projects in JIRA for various reasons, yet some of these projects are either now completed or no longer needed to be tracked.  I know I can delete an entire project, but I really don't want to do that (for historical purposes).  I want to deprecate it in some manner so that it stops showing up in Project drop downs and filter options, etc....  Is there anyway of doing this?

Thanks.

Hide it.

Create a permission scheme that does not have anyone set for "browse".  Then no-one will see it, it won't turn up in searches and it won't be offered in drop-downs.

If you do still need to see it, then you could use a permission scheme that only allows "browse".  At least that way, it will not be offered in the "create" menu.

Such a simple solution. Thank you!
