Delete component - impact on resolved tickets/history?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Defining a Component

If I Delete a component, does it impact already closed/resolved tickets? Or would they maintain the history of having been with the legacy component? My assumption is that all closed/resolved tickets would also take the action defined in the deletion process (be assigned to new component, for example).

Hi Brian,

Yes, the action that you specify - swap or remove will be applied to all issues that exist in the system, regardless of closed/open, etc.

In the history of each of the issues you will that such change was made.
