Default Tickets in Project

Technology Department July 17, 2014

We are trying to create a Project Template that automatically has a list of tickets assigned in it, once the project is saved.

Examples of the default tickets would be, "Client Planning", "Design Planning", and so on. Every new project we create needs to have a list of these tickets. It's very time consuming to have to create them manually, every time we get a new project.

Is there an easier way to do this?

We have done something similar using the External Import capabilities. You can set up a list of issues that are defined in a spread sheet with all of the default information defined. You can then use this csv file to import all of the issues into any new project. The first time you may have to go through all of the import steps but once it is done once you can simply save the configuration file so that any subsequent import you simply select the configuration file and all of the column mappings are already complete. This dramatically reduces the time it takes to configure the project. We can now set up a project and within about five minutes we have populated the project with 150+ issues. You can get more information from the Jira documentation here.

This was pretty much what I was figuring we'd have to do. I'll accept this as an answer until there is better way to do it!

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, Clone Plus is not available for OnDemand instance.

we use Clone Plus to do this by way of a script that executes and then creates a project with all the "templated" issues. our teams then use this template to make whatever other changes are needed for a given project.
