Deactivating a user-"Active" check box not visible

Anand Dass October 16, 2013

Trying to deactivate a user.

Documentation @ https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Managing+Users#ManagingUsers-Deactivatingauser says that I should be able to see the "active " check box which I need to clear.

I have adminstrator access but Yet when i click "edit" in "operations" against a username I get a modal only with the Name and Email Address. No "Active" check box.

How do I deactivate users?

If you have Jira OnDemand, follow this guide to deactivate users: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Deleting+or+Deactivating+JIRA+Users

On OnDemand the users counted towards the licenses are managed from Application Access and not the user groups.

As a hint, all OnDemand documentation has AOD on the link. Clicking the '?' sign on your instance will take you to the Home to search for documentation there.

Cheers!

Hi Anand

To deactivate an user, you just have to remove all the groups he belongs to. That way you will have the reference to all work this user is related to in JIRA, but he will not be counted against your license and will not have access to the instance.

Hope it helps,

Ricardo Carracedo.
