Customfield names are overlapping on screen

Field names have to be meaningful, so we cannot cut short the name.

Please advise on solution

On which screen are they overlapping, do you have a screenshot?

Maybe you could play with the location of your different fields on the screen?

Modifying the order might help a bit, but it's clear that you are using names that are far too long. Either shorten them (and use the field descriptions) or you need to change the code for the layout of the screens.

I did play enough with fields, but need to maintain the order.

Is there any other solution to this problem.

I have to agree with Nic, your fieldnames are way too long.

Maybe you can use this plugin : https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.aevolu.jira.compass

You can use their context sensitive help to explain the field to the user (if necessary).

You could hack the css and shove the field contents around, but that just shifts the problem elsewhere.

I'm afraid that the real answer is that your "field names have to be meaningful" is wrong. Humans understand short field names and actually struggle to work with long ones, hence there's no need for huge field names. They very much appreciate short names being explained though - that's what field descriptions are for.
