Custom fields against a customer?

We are looking at using JIRA service desk but is it possible to record information against a customer?

E.g: the department the person belongs to.

This would be for reporting purposes.

You can use the properties of a user profile.

How to go about it : Administer User > Edit Properties ? Define Key and the appropriate Value
