Hi! Looking to see if someone could help us accomplish refining a report.

Needs:

  • Report based on (1) project in a company-managed project
  • Report to have a dropdown filter to choose specific epics
  • Report to include name/description of Epics and their respective stories
  • Why? We need to have an exportable OR live link we can send to external stakeholders without JIRA access to show what is being worked on to prepare collateral

Any insight we would greatly appreciate! We have Confluence as well we can leverage.

Hey! Welcome to the community!

Since you have Confluence, I'd like to suggest an option that might perfectly meet your needs. Our team has developed Excel-like Tables for Confluence, a plugin that allows you to embed Excel-like spreadsheets directly into your Confluence pages. We've recently introduced the Jira Issue Sheets feature to enhance integration between Confluence and Jira.

With this feature, you can pull Jira issues directly into your spreadsheet and create dynamic reports based on specific projects or epics. You can also combine your Jira issue reports with Excel functionalities like pivot tables, charts, and more. This means you can not only list the issues but also analyze and visualize your data using familiar Excel features, making your reports more insightful and engaging.

You can learn more about Jira Issue Sheets here: Jira Issue Sheets Documentation

And find our app here: Excel-like Tables for Confluence

If you've already tried it, we'd love to hear your feedback! Our team actively listens to user input to continuously improve our apps.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need assistance getting started.

Kind Regards
KD

Hi Product Team,

You can use Jira Cloud for Excel: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221301/jira-cloud-for-excel-official?tab=overview&hosting=cloud and bring all data from jira to your excel.

This is a free app.

You can then put filter and manipulate data in Excel.

Hi @Product Team,

I'm afraid that Jira cannot provide such a report.

My advice is to use a dashboard with all the necessary gadgets in place for covering the information you want, Or, if you have Confluence, to create a page with the necessary macros on it that displays data taken from Jira. Then, export (in PDF) or share this dashboard or Confluence page with your external share holders.

There are many apps/plugins available on Atlassian Marketplace that offers all kind of gadgets for Jira dashboard or macros for Confluence that will help you achieve your goal.

If you consider this approach and the idea of using a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers a complete set of gadgets and macros for tracking projects.

For you case, these gadgets can be useful:

Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget/macro - lets you create multi-dimensional pivot tables, heat-map tables and pivot charts with drag&drop, just like in Excel. You could use this gadget to display the progress for your epics in term of issues count, sum of story points or percentage of completion.

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) gadget/macro - displays the epics along with their stories and, optionally, their sub-tasks along with their current status thus giving you a quick overview about the project work and progress.

Epic Burndown Chart with Forecast - this ca be done by using the Release Burndown Chart gadget/macro offered by the same app. It calculate the ETA for the epic based on team velocity.

Hello @Product Team , welcome!

If you are using a Scrum project, you can use the Epic Report which you can share within your Confluence page. To allow your stakeholders to see it, you would need to make your space available for Anonymous users where you can share the whole Confluence link with your stakeholders

In this case, I don't have any Epics, but you will be able to see them here.
