Connect JIRA cloud to Bitbucket cloud error 403

LievaartAllego April 6, 2016

When I click "Grant access" on the page "JIRA add-on is requesting access to Bitbucket" I get an error:

The add-on failed to be installed: Error calling installed at URL [URL]: 403 Client Error: Forbidden

Even though I am using an administrator account on both instances.

How do I get JIRA to get accepted?

For your information, my issue was eventually resolved due to assistance by Atlassian support.

First of all, the JIRA user used to make the connection, needs to have the site administrator role.

The Bitbucket user needs to be an administrator for the team account.

Be sure to delete the previous attempt BEFORE making another attempt.

In my case, not deleting the old attempt caused subsequent attempts to fail.

I found the delete feature somewhat hard to find. In JIRA:

  • click the cog
  • Applications
  • DVCS accounts
  • find the failed attempt and click the three dots next to it
  • Delete

Hope this helps

This solved my problem. Thank you! One could think that there should be a clearer indication of what is wrong.

I have this exact same problem, and no idea how to fix it. When looking for answers, I found some indication that it was due to me being over my plan, which is not the case, since I'm on the free trail for JIRA and have fewer than 5 users on Bitbucket.
