Topaz Gino December 20, 2014

Hi,

We intend to upgrade JIRA to 6.x , and also Confluence.

How the link between them is being done on this version?

What is the recommended version to upgrade JIRA? Confluence?

Thanks,

Topaz

Some helpful Confluence info:

For the upgrade, depending on the version used, we may need to follow an upgrade path according to our Upgrade Documentation and use the manual procedure to have more information in case of facing any issues. For example:

In order to upgrade Confluence, first we need to know about the upgrade path, which should be:

3.5.17 > 5.0.3 > 5.1.5 (or the latest version)

And before jumping to the standard procedures from a upgrade, we suggest the users to [check the plugin compatibility with the next versions to avoid further issues. Having that in mind, we can start the upgrade process by following the standard procedures:

  1.  Go to atlassian.com and download Confluence:https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/download-archives
  2. Extract the zip/tar.gz file of the latest version of Confluence on the place you choose. ( I highly suggest that you create a folder call: Confluence 'new version') and inside of this folder extract the install folder.
  3. Into the extracted folder, open the file confluence-init.properties, which is located at Confluence install directory\confluence\web-inf\classes and edit the line: confluence.home=/usr/local/confluence/home to point to the path where is your old home folder of your *Confluence current version*.
  4. Now start Confluence through your new installation folder

Remember that we can face issue regarding the Wiki markup to XHTML format conversion which we may need to run the manual upgrade of the content.

Hope it helps ya!

Cheers,

Giuliano
