Hi All

I am trying to set up an incoming mail server on jira. However, I am receiving this error while trying to Add POP / IMAP Mail Server.

Here's the error on UI

Unfortunately no connection was possible. Review the errors below and rectify:

  • SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Here's the error on logs

2013-12-09 19:11:20,174 http-bio-80-exec-12 ERROR aich 1151x3891x1 1desnst 10.x.1.xxx /secure/admin/VerifyPopServerConnection!add.jspa [plugins.mail.webwork.VerifyMailServer] Unable to connect to the server at cxsdfdxxxx2.hx.k.xxx due to the following exception: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target..

Any idea guys?
Rahul

Hi Rahul,

It seems that your mail server uses SSL. You'll need to import the certificate and any intermediary CA certificates into the cacerts file of the JAVA installation that JIRA use pointing to.

You can see more details about the import process in this documentation.

Rahul,

Just follow the documenatation that Tiago sent on Connecting JIRA to SSL Services. Basically, you need to get the certificate of your mail server and import in the Keystore that JIRA is using. The page contains step-by-step instructions.

Hi Tiago

We already have certificates installed on our jira instance, i am not sure how to install a second certificate for our mail server. Any ideas?

@Pedro, given whats been said so far, its likely that an intermediate CA cert is required, you mention only one, the documentation will talk of multiple certs but it helps to clarify that a set of certificates can be rquired in some cases.
