Clustering self-hosted

Going the self-hosting route and have two Supermicro servers I'll be building soon.We need some type of redundancy in-case the other server fails and need minimal down time.Just looking for documentation on this topic and I thought I would ask the question here first.

 

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Won't work with active-active.  Either setup active-passive, or look at Data Centre.

I'd definitely try it with Data Center first, instead of reinventing the wheel.

I'd don't think Data Center is an affordable option for us. With NIC comment above, I feel a 'active-passive' setup with some level of synchronization would be okay, as the amount of downtime would be decreased dramatically to restoring from a backup. Maybe I should re-title my question...
