Changing Workflow change tasks?

If I create a new work flow because I need to change transitions from statuses that don't have outgoing transitions will this remove the current tasks if I recreate the same statuses when I publish it over the current work flow?

Just copy the current workflow->modify it and change the workflow from the project configuration.

If sth is mismatch, you will get option to convert, then apply new workflow.
