Cant access Jira externally on my webserver

leighmillard August 23, 2011

Hi,

I have installed Jira standalone on my webserver and can access it from the server using localhost:8080 but was expecting to be able to view through any browser using myipaddress:8080 but am unable to.

Is this possible? I am running a windows web server IIS7

Cheers
Leigh

That's a networking question.

You've not given us an error message, so there's a huge range of things it could be, but to get started, check your firewalls to see if they're allowing remote access to port 8080, then check if IIS thinks it's forwarding traffic between 8080 and your local machine.

Thanks, good point it is more of a networking issue which isn't really my hotspot but I have asked about the firewall and will look into how to check the IIS forwarding traffic to localhost.
