Cannot find appropriate installation for PostGreSQL 8.4.x for ubuntu 14.0? Does anyone have other workable alternatives?

David,

I followed the instructions above with a user having admin rights on ubuntu server 14.0 (vmware). The message I got is as below -

"Package postgresql-8.4 is not available, but is referred to by package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source.

E: Package 'postgresql-8.4 has no installation candidate

E: Unable to locate package postgresql-client-8.4

E: couldn't find any package by regex 'postgresql-client-8.4'

The issue is not resolved and is the going to prevent me from installing JIRA, unless there is workaround.

Thanks

Liji

Hey Liji,

I believe below documentation is what you are looking for:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Setting+up+a+PostgreSQL+Database+on+Linux+for+JIRA

As a side note the above documentation was refering to postegres 8.2 instead of 8.4, based on that I updated the information accordingly smile.

tks,

David
